About Josh Whelchel

Josh Whelchel is a composer from Louisville, Kentucky. This website serves as an outlet of everything I produce: music, soundtracks, and applications.

The Spirit Engine Original SoundtrackThe Spirit Engine, by Mark Pay. The game's release in 2003 resulted in a surge of popularity for not only Mark, but for me as well. Consequently, I released the soundtrack for purchase in 2004, which surprisingly sold quite a fair share of copies. About a year later I released the soundtrack for digital purchase for $4, which did incredibly (for a free game, mind you). Late in 2007, I decided to place the soundtrack on the internet for free, and within the first week it had already seen over 200 downloads!

I am also responsible for the ModFusion line of extensions for Clickteam's Multimedia Fusion and Multimedia Fusion 2. Onu, a powerful followup and rewrite of the ModFusion core, is slated for release in early 2008, and allows for playback of not only modules, but OGGs as well. In addition, it will include a fully expendable SDK for supporting new input formats and other visualizations, etc.

The purpose of this website, in particular, is to provide a place for users and fans to download the products I create. Most things on this site will be available for free, such as all of the extensions I produce, along with several soundtracks and other pieces of music. The soundtrack to The Spirit Engine 2, however, will be released for secure digital download when it becomes available. Mark and I also have some other (free) releases planned before the game comes out, so keep your eyes open!
